Ziyodullo Shahidi's music
We connect East and West through music and scholarship. Ziyodullo Shahidi's music places maqam inside the symphony. Work on scores lets musicians study how he brought them together and take that music into performance.
Founded in 1992
Munira Shahidi founded the Foundation in 1992. She also founded the journal Fonus.
Ziyodullo Shahidi is born in Samarkand.
Shahidi's first opera, Komde & Madan, brings Bedil's poem to the stage.
Ziyodullo Shahidi writes the Symphony of Maqams, drawing on Shashmaqom themes.
Ziyodullo Shahidi dies on 25 February.
Marhabo and Munira Shahidi establish the Ziyodullo Shahidi house-museum.
Munira Shahidi founds the Foundation during Tajikistan's civil war.
The first issue of Fonus appears in January.
Tajikistan celebrates the centenary of Ziyodullo Shahidi's birth.
Munira Shahidi dies on 15 July.
